As of March 2020, millions and millions of Americans were forced to stay home to complete their work as a means to slow down the fast-spreading coronavirus. Fast forward to now, and although the vaccines seem to be having a strong effect on stopping the virus from spreading as rapidly, there are still question marks hovering over what the new normal could look like. One topic, in particular, surrounds the potential return to the office.

It seems like companies from all over the world are quite keen on getting people back to the office, and thanks to the economic hardship that the US currently finds itself in, businesses will likely want to get people working as productively as possible, but is it worth paying rent on office space in order to achieve that? There are a few things that will affect the return back to the office, and this article will look at those options in a bit more detail.

Are You Considering Implementing Working from Home for Good?

If you are a business owner and reading this, then there may well be a part of you that is considering implementing working from home for good. Realistically, whether it will work or not will just depend on how your business manages itself. Maybe you should give it a try by moving out of the office but storing equipment in storage units such as those provided by storagearea.com.

Hybrid Work

There have been a lot of high-profile companies that have confirmed their workers do not need to return to the office if they don’t wish to do so. However, many others have confessed that they are going to be using a hybrid model where workers will be spending some time in the office and some time at home. A lot of business leaders are of the opinion that that shift is going to be a temporary one; however, employees seem to be split on where they do their best working, leaving the benefits of the hybrid model a bit up in the air.

Traffic Jams

This is an interesting point that a lot of quantitative futurists have put together, as with more businesses embracing hybrid work, there is a chance that working weeks will shorten. As a result of this, we may well start to see traffic patterns change. It means that anyone who plans on commuting to the office from Tuesday through to Thursday is going to have a nightmare in traffic. On the other hand, those traveling at the beginning or end of the week will likely find the drive relatively peaceful.

Conclusion

It is difficult to say exactly the form that returning to the office will take in these next few months. While there is nothing stopping people from returning to the office, many have settled into the working from home worklife, and businesses seem to be responding to that by implementing a hybrid work structure. How successful this will be remains to be seen, and while it will almost certainly have an impact on the likes of traffic jams, the impact it will have on businesses is still unknown.
