What is a pronoun?

The word pronoun is used to replace a noun. Pronouns can be a subject or a verb.

The following pronouns are the ones that you will see in common: I, me, myself, you, you're, your, yours, she, her, hers, he, him, his, its, them, their. You can also use the words it, it's, its, their, them, theirs, we, us, ourselves, you.

You are very lucky because you can always replace nouns with pronouns. There are three different kinds of pronouns. There are personal pronouns (pronouns with first person singular), possessive pronouns (pronouns with first person plural), and reflexive pronouns (pronouns with third person).

How does the pronoun work?

A pronoun is a word that stands in place of another word or phrase. Pronouns can be used in three different ways: as subject, as direct object or as indirect object. For example, you use I when you talk about yourself, he or she when you talk about a person who is speaking, and they when you are talking about someone else.

Pronouns are used in spoken language all the time, but most people don't realize they exist. The main purpose of pronouns is to keep the speaker's identity and point of view intact. Pronouns are also used as a tool to emphasize certain parts of sentences or paragraphs.

You can use pronouns as both a subject and as a direct object, as in "I love him," "He loves me," "I told her about her mistake."

You can say, "You gave him a book." He is the direct object. You are the indirect object. You can use a pronoun in any sentence except for when you are quoting someone else.

Types of Pronoun and their Use

We have  found three types of pronouns and those all are used in our regular life. We will now see the use of these pronouns. Then it will be easy for you to understand and use:

  • Personal Pronouns

  • Possessive Pronouns

  • Reflexive Pronouns

Personal Pronouns are used instead of a person and that indicates a person to represent. We can categorize this pronoun and place it in the right place to tell us the story in the right manner.

These pronouns are used to make sentences easy to understand. For example, when you say "I am," it means "I am the one who is." The pronouns come with the verbs. The pronoun tells who is doing what, and that makes it easy to understand. You can use a singular form for singular people or a plural form for plural people. The plural form can be used with "they."

When the pronoun is a plural as the first person, here you have to find out the right type of words for it. You can find them out easily for its nature, its plural and take place in the first place.

You can use the words you mentioned in a sentence by adding the word or to it. You should use it with plural nouns which describe the subjects that you are describing. You can use singular nouns for the subjects that you are describing.

If you are trying to convey the meaning of one particular kind of word or idea, you can use a single word to describe it. You should use the singular verb form and noun in a sentence to describe the subject.

There are reflexive pronouns, that is basically third person. You can find these types of pronouns for their position and movement. When you see a pronoun in the third person you can understand that it is a reflexive pronoun.

If you see that a pronoun is third person you can guess that it is a reflexive pronoun. Reflexive pronouns do what a subject does. A subject is a person or animal that does an action. The actions of a subject are called subjects. For example, "she" is a subject. She eats food. Reflexive pronouns can be in two ways: active or passive.
