California Universities Forcing Students To Affirm Gender Doctrine Or Lose Seat

Something alarming is happening on several University of California campuses--and it's a warning sign for where higher education in America is headed.

Increasingly, students are being told they cannot register for classes unless they first agree--perfectly and without question--to a set of ideological beliefs about gender and sexuality. The requirement comes through a mandatory program called SHAPE (Sexual Harassment, Anti-Discrimination, Prevention and Education), which sounds harmless enough. But behind the friendly acronym is something far more troubling: a test of whether students are willing to publicly embrace gender ideology before they can continue their education.

On campuses like UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Irvine, students must complete SHAPE and score 100% on the quiz. Not a passing grade. Not "most correct." A perfect ideological score.

And what counts as "correct"? According to the scenarios students must answer:

Failing to use someone's self-declared pronouns is labeled harassment.

Calling a person by their biological name--now rebranded as "deadnaming"--is also harassment.

Protesting or even expressing discomfort about biological men using women's restrooms is classified as creating a "hostile environment."

In other words, it's not harassment for a biological male to walk into the women's restroom. It's only harassment for a woman to object.

This is the upside-down moral logic being taught as unquestionable truth.

These schools aren't just encouraging kindness or mutual respect. They're requiring ideological assent. Students must check the right boxes--according to the worldview the university has declared sacred--or their registration will be blocked.

This is not education. It's coercion.

And ironically, while the training claims to protect students from "hostility," it openly permits hostility toward those who hold traditional, religious, or biological views of sex and gender.

If you see men in women's bathrooms as a safety issue?

If your conscience tells you that male and female are biological realities created by God?

If you believe that names and pronouns reflect objective truth, not subjective identity?

Then according to these schools, you are the problem. You are the threat. You are the one creating a "hostile environment."

For Christians, this is more than a political issue. It strikes at the core of what it means to stand for biblical truth in a culture that increasingly despises it.

Christians believe that God--not the state, not a university, and not shifting cultural winds--created humanity male and female. They believe human dignity comes from God, not self-identification. And they believe truth is not something you reshape to avoid offending someone.

But under these new rules, that belief is no longer just unpopular. It's disqualifying.

A Christian student who cannot in good conscience affirm gender ideology is treated as if they are a danger to campus safety. Imagine sitting at your computer trying to register for classes--but the system blocks you because you refuse to declare that calling a biological male "he" is harassment.

That is the new reality.

These requirements reveal something deeper than administrative overreach. They illustrate a worldview that has removed God from His rightful place and replaced Him with self-definition. A worldview where feelings override facts, where identity replaces biology, and where traditional morality must be crushed for a new moral order to stand.

The tragedy is that universities once proudly championed intellectual freedom. They were places where ideas could be debated--not mandated. But today, disagreement is treated as violence, and conscience is treated as defiance.

It is no longer enough to be respectful. You must affirm.

It is no longer acceptable to quietly disagree. You must comply.

It is no longer safe to follow biblical truth. You must abandon it--or be removed from the classroom.

This is not just about one training module or one university system. It is a glimpse of the cultural direction we are heading if believers remain silent.

If schools can force students to speak in ways that violate conscience, what else will they require next year?

If disagreement with gender ideology becomes "harassment," what other biblical truths will be labeled harmful?

If Christians are no longer welcome in classrooms, how long before they are no longer welcome anywhere?

The issue is not pronouns. The issue is control.

And the question before us is simple: Will we stand for truth--even when the cost is rising?

Because the day is quickly approaching when simply believing that God created us male and female will not just be controversial--it will be forbidden.
