Flat Feet - How Do You Eliminate Discomfort And Achieve Normal Arch Support?

Fallen arches, or "pes planus," is a common condition otherwise known as flat feet. When people have flat feet, this means normal arches are not present. The feet press firmly against the ground without the added support of arches. These arches are responsible for helping to distribute body weight and facilitating proper mobility.

People can either have what's called "flexible flat feet" or "rigid flat feet." Rigid flat feet is when a person's feet are always flat, even when not pressed against the ground. The arch is never present. Flexible flat feet is when a person's feet have an arch until pressed against the ground.

Medical experts suggest that flat feet are hereditary. Therefore, if other people in your family have flat feet, you are more likely to experience the same condition.

Best Practices

Orthopedic inserts are worn inside your shoes. They provide the necessary arch support and help reposition your feet. These shoe inserts are one of the best tools available to people with flat feet who need the necessary correction for better arch support.

It is also important that you have the right footwear. Try Arcopedico shoes. Change what shoes you are wearing occasionally so that your feet avoid taking on a specific shape over time. Additionally, avoid shoes that are too tight, and never wear high heels.

A healthy diet is also important. The right diet helps you manage your weight and promotes weight loss. Obesity is problematic for your feet, putting extra stress on them and hindering mobility.

There are stretching exercises that help to strengthen your feet and ease discomfort. These exercises work toward reversing flat feet and the associated symptoms.

Consult with a podiatrist in your local area if you have flat feet. The doctor will help formulate a plan to provide your feet with better arch support, relieving you of any pain and discomfort.
